“Going About My Father’s Work is a project I’ve been working on all my life. Being raised in a conventional Christian home, I learned about Jesus Christ at a very young age. Through my life I’ve had many ups and downs, as we all have. The only constant in my life during the chaos was Christ.”

“Going About My Father’s Work is a project I’ve been working on all my life. Being raised in a conventional Christian home, I learned about Jesus Christ at a very young age. Through my life I’ve had many ups and downs, as we all have. The only constant in my life during the chaos was Christ.
“My first experience with music was in the church. I grew up listening to hymns, not really understanding what I was singing. I only knew that when I sang the hymns, the Holy Spirit seemed to be present. As I got older, my curiosity of what these songs meant took hold. I began to research some of my favorites and discovered that the stories were as powerful as the hymns themselves. I’ve been singing many different genres of music all my life, but my first love has always been spiritual music. Hymns have the greatest stories to tell. Going About My Father’s Work is a collection of old hymns, along with many original songs that my brother Grant and I wrote together.
“My journey has been long, with many different roads traveled. I left my roots for a time. I saw the church headed away from the teachings of Jesus and more toward that of being unloving and unforgiving. As the years have gone by, I’ve had a lingering sadness. I’ve felt the tug of the Holy Spirit drawing me back to my first love, and for so long I’ve ignored that calling. Those days have ended. I’m taking my faith, my belief in Jesus Christ— his love and forgiveness— and I’m ready to share it with all those who feel as I do and have felt that way for many years. Christ is my Savior. His teachings are those of love and not hate. His Grace covers it all. ‘Not of myself lest any man should boast.’
“We are all going about our Father’s work, everyday, in some way. Know he is always there to guide, love and carry you when your load is too heavy. He’s carried me and continues to, even when I think I’m doing it myself. I hope you enjoy these songs. My arranger and dear friend Tedd Firth and I have worked to give these hymns somewhat of a new feel— a freshness, if you will. You will hear the same wonderful words with a little twist in the music. So sit back, soak them in, and let the Holy Spirit take control and move you in ways you can’t even imagine.
