All About lynn

Lynn Loosier is a redheaded, blue-eyed, soul singer, which may seem like an oxymoron to those who tend to judge the book by the cover, but just wait until she opens her mouth to sing… pure soul. Lynn is not your typical Cabaret performer, she can sing any style of music from jazz, blues, R&B;, gospel, country, & rock with the natural & effortless ability to connect to each song’s story & move an audience. David Finkle at Backstage Magazine sums up her vocals: “She is a force to behold.”

“Never stop singing, cause girl, YOU can sing.”

– Patti LaBelle, to Lynn

She has been a featured soloist at both Lincoln Center & Jazz at Lincoln Center. Lynn is a backup singer who blends sweetly but shines brightly. She has had the pleasure to sing with Jennifer Holliday, Sam Harris, & local favorite Julian Fleisher. Lynn has shared the stage with Broadway & television actor, Tom Wopat, who told her, “Next time I need to open for you.” But it is perhaps the advice from the legendary Patti Labelle that inspires Lynn’s passion for sharing her gift of music, “Never stop singing, cause girl, YOU CAN SING.”

There is nothing fragile about Lynn Loosier’s velvety soft delivery or her cordial-smooth vocals. Whether belting sweet ditties at New Yorks’s famed Firebird Cafe, or performing on the PBS special Cabaret Live, Lynn is a force to behold.

For Seventeen years Lynn was a resident of  the big apple, she now resides in Houston TX but her roots belong to the heart and soul of Georgia. Her southern upbringing can be felt, as well as heard, in every one of her passionate deliveries from classic blues to gospel to jazz. Her soulful renditions bring to mind giants Ella, Billie and Sarah, yet are firmly anchored by her undeniably southern style.

A personal note from Lynn

From the time I met Tedd Firth and started working with him, I wanted to record a project that was just the two of us. I’m glad I waited because it gave me a chance to work with Tedd for many years and get to know him as a person and an artist. I count my blessings every day that God put him on my path, and I feel fortunate that he continued to work with me to finally see this project to fruition. For every album I have recorded, Tedd was right there arranging all the music. It was quite a journey. Most importantly, he is cherished friend. Thank you, Tedd, for being a great role model, a kind man, and an inspiring artist.

The title “Simplicity” was somewhat spontaneously chosen when talking with my web designer. I told Paolo that the project had a simplistic feel to it, based on the clarity of piano and vocals, and that was what made it so beautiful to me. I laughed and said, “I think that should be the title!”. All the songs I chose have touched me on a personal level. While many of them have a deeply rooted message, a common undertone is love, kindness, and appreciation. In a perfect world, these concepts would be so simple.

This website would not have been possible without Chuck Richards. Thank you, Chuck, for making lynnloosiermusic.com a reality!

Performances

A versatile performer who can sing any style of music from jazz and blues to country and rock with a natural, effortless ability, Lynn Loosier connects to each song’s story and moves the audience. According to David Finkle, Backstage writer, “Lynn feels the raw need behind the Ray Evans-Jay Livingston ‘Never Let Me Go,’ the sorrow behind Ann Ronell’s ‘Willow Weep for Me,’ and — since she was raised a Southern Baptist — the religious intensity behind ‘Precious Lord’ (Thomas A. Dorsey).”

Emotions can be felt, as well as heard, in every one of her passionate deliveries bringing to mind giants Ella, Billie, and Sarah. Lynn recently moved from New York City where she bared her soul at some of the city’s legendary stages and clubs, including solo shows at Joe’s Pub and The Metropolitan Room. She was a featured soloist with Metro Mass Gospel Choir on many occasions including shows at Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the famed Town Hall Theater.

One of the great highlights of her NYC career was the appearances made and relationships developed at the famous Apollo Theater. She competed in the grueling, yearlong, renowned competition and was crowned Apollo Top Dog of 2009. Following that powerful showing, Lynn was invited to do a solo show at the Apollo Café, and she was later invited to participate in the Showtime at the Apollo revival for national television in 2017.

She has had the pleasure to sing with some greats, including Jennifer Holliday, Sam Harris, and Tom Wopat, who told her, “Next time I need to open for you.” But it is perhaps the advice from the legendary Patti Labelle that inspires Lynn’s passion for sharing her gift of music, “Never stop singing, ‘cause girl, YOU CAN SING.”
